How can SLO County help older residents age comfortably? It needs your advice

San Luis Obispo County is working on a plan that could help older residents continue to live comfortably in the area — and it needs your help.

The county is partnering with healthcare consultant firm Health Management Associates on a series of town halls with residents to discuss the upcoming Master Plan on Aging, which is part of a larger statewide movement to make California more livable for its older residents, according to a news release.

The town halls, which will run from Aug. 14-16, will seek input from residents on their experience with local physical health, behavioral health, housing, caregiving and referral services.

People who participate at the town halls will have a chance to complete surveys about their experience, with the first 400 eligible for a $35 gift card while supplies last.

The town halls will be held in Oceano, Paso Robles, San Luis Obispo, Los Osos and Atascadero.

Surveys will be available in both English and Spanish and can be completed anytime before Sept. 30.

Wednesday, Aug. 14

  • Oceano Community Center, 1425 19th St., Oceano, 9 to 11 a.m.
  • South County Regional Center, 800 W. Branch St., Arroyo Grande, 4:45 to 5:45 p.m. and 6 to 7 p.m.

Thursday, Aug. 15

  • Centennial Park Aquatic Center, 600 Nickerson Drive, Paso Robles, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

Friday, Aug. 16

  • San Luis Obispo City-County Library, 995 Palm St., San Luis Obispo, 10 to 11:30 a.m.
  • South Bay Community Center, 2180 Palisades Ave., Los Osos, noon to 1:30 p.m.
  • Atascadero Library, 6555 Capistrano Ave., Atascadero, 2 to 3:15 p.m.
