SLO County fire department announces new chief — and he’s a familiar Central Coast face
The Five Cities Fire Authority has picked a new person to replacing retiring Chief Steve Lieberman: Scott Hallett — a firefighter with more than 30 years of service in San Luis Obispo County.
Hallett previously served as a firefighter in Atascadero and Paso Robles, starting his career in 1991 with the Atascadero Fire Department as a seasonal firefighter, according to a news release from the Five Cities Fire Authority.
“I am extremely honored and excited to join the Five Cities Fire Authority and serve the residents and visitors of these great communities,” Hallett said in the release.
Hallett served in Atascadero until 2018, when he was hired by Paso Robles Fire and Emergency Services as an operations battalion chief. He will continue to serve there until beginning his new role on April 29, the release said.
“The Five Cities Fire Authority is thrilled to welcome Mr. Hallett as its next Fire Chief,” Five Cities Fire Authority CEO and Grover Beach city manager Matt Bronson said in the release. “Mr. Hallett brings a strong operations background and has a long record in our county. We look forward to seeing Chief Hallett lead the Authority into the future.”
Hallett is a current Central Coast resident and has two adult children, Kayla and Preston, according to the release.
“My kids have been my proudest life accomplishments, and my family has been incredibly supportive of this new chapter in my career,” Hallett added.
