Motorcyclist injured in SLO crash near top of Prefumo Canyon, CHP said

A motorcyclist driving through a rainstorm was majorly injured in a crash near the top of Prefumo Canyon on Thursday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol.

At about 5 p.m. Thursday, the motorcyclist drove through the rain on a dirt road east of Prefumo Canyon Road near Serpentine Lane, CHP Officer Trevor Ashby told The Tribune.

The unnamed motorcyclist crashed and broke her leg, Ashby said.

According to emergency scanner traffic, the woman fell 20 feet down the side of a cliff and needed rescue. A CHP spokesperson could not confirm if that was the case Thursday evening.

A helicopter was also initially called out to the scene, but due to the weather — including a sudden burst of hail — it was called off, according to emergency scanner traffic.

Ashby said ultimately an ambulance transported the motorcyclist to Adventist Health Sierra Vista.
