Portable heater sparks early morning blaze, destroys SLO County RV

A recreational vehicle was destroyed during an early morning fire in northern San Luis Obispo County on Wednesday.

Around 6:25 a.m., a fire was reported in northern Templeton by tenants near 818 Golden Meadow Drive, according to a news release from Templeton Fire and Emergency Services.

An RV was fully involved in flames, according to the release. The fire department said the blaze posed an exposure risk to additional RVs and mobile homes in the neighborhood.

Four fire engines were dispatched to the scene and had the fire in control within 15 minutes, the release said. The RV’s single occupant was not injured.

The fire was believed to be caused by a portable electrical heater, the release said.
