Fire behind downtown SLO bar threatens buildings, burns fence and equipment

A fire threatened The Mark Bar and Grill in downtown San Luis Obispo on Thursday afternoon.

An exterior fence and some equipment caught fire at about 11:40 a.m., according to San Luis Obispo City Fire spokesperson James Blattler.

The Higuera Street blaze briefly threatened nearby buildings and structures, but firefighters prevented the fire from spreading and damaging the buildings, according to Blattler.

Firefighters extinguished the fire within about five minutes of arriving on the scene, Blattler said.

No injuries were reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Blattler.
