A bicyclist was hospitalized after being hit by a vehicle in Arroyo Grande on Monday afternoon.

According to a 4:16 p.m. Instagram post, officers with the Arroyo Grande Police Department were on scene for a collision between a vehicle and bicyclist on Fair Oaks Avenue near Valley Road.

The bicyclist was transported to the hospital with “moderate to severe injuries”, the post said.

Drugs and alcohol were not believed to have been a part of the collision, the department said.

As a result of the collision, the westbound lanes on Fair Oaks Avenue were congested, and the department asked drivers to avoid the westbound No. 2 lane in particular as officers completed their investigation.
