Update, 7:50 p.m.:

All active fire on the hillside has been stopped as of 7:50 p.m., according to emergency scanner traffic.

In a tweet Thursday night, Cal Fire said forward progress has been stopped and the cause is under investigation.

Crews are remaining on scene to mop up.

A vegetation fire was burning on Highway 101 at the Cuesta Grade on Thursday night.

A fire was reported at northbound Highway 101 and Stage Coach Road just after 7 p.m., according to emergency response app, PulsePoint.

First units at scene said the fire had burned about one acre with a low chance of further spread. An additional hand crew and other resources were requested.

California Highway Patrol was in the process of closing a lane of the highway as crews respond to the fire, according to CHP’s traffic incident report page.

There was some light traffic on northbound Highway 101 in the area of the fire as of 7:20 p.m., according to Caltrans’ Quick Map.
