1 injured in crash that sent car smashing into Arroyo Grande coffee shop patio, restaurant

One person was injured when two cars collided in Arroyo Grande on Monday afternoon, police said, sending one of the vehicles careening into a pair of local businesses.

According to an Arroyo Grande Police Department news release, officers responded to reports of a vehicle collision in the 1400 block of East Grand Avenue around 4:11 p.m. Monday.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a car with an injured driver at the entrance of the Arroyo Town and Country Square Shopping Center, according to the release.

A second vehicle had also collided with Tribe Coffeehouse’s front patio area and the Blue Seafood and Grill restaurant building.

Emergency medical staff attended to both drivers, police said, and one was transported to a local hospital.

The second driver was evaluated and declined medical transport, according to the release.

Police said intoxication is not believed to be a factor with the crash.

An investigation is ongoing, according to the release.
