Carving up some Halloween fun in SLO County? Here’s where to pick your own pumpkins
October is in full swing.
With Halloween is right around the corner, it’s the perfect time to visit one of San Luis Obispo County’s many pumpkin patches.
Here are a few of the local places where you can pick out your own pumpkins for jack-o’-lanterns and enjoy family-friendly activities ranging from hay rides to corn mazes.
SLO Creek Farms
What: Located just off Highway 101, SLO Creek Farms offers seasonal pumpkin picking and organic apple picking.

Brookshire Farms
What: This fun-filled pumpkin patch offers many family-friendly activities, including hay rides, a corn maze. pedal carts, duck races and a playground. Shawn Callaway and his wife Gretchen have co-owned Brookshire Farms for 11 years.

Jack Creek Farms

What: In addition to a pumpkin patch, the popular farm off Highway 101 offers fall-themed experiences such as hay rides, pony rides and a haystack maze. Kids can also feed goats, chickens and other animals.
Hungry? Avila Valley Barn offers an array of fresh produce, plus fresh-roasted corn, baked goods, sandwiches, caramel apples and ice cream.
