Although parts of San Luis Obispo County are experiencing triple-digit temperatures this week, autumn is just around the corner —with fall festivities in tow.

In the spirit of the season, Yelp picked the best pumpkin patches in the United States — Jack Creek Farms in Templeton made the list.

The San Luis Obispo County business is the only California pumpkin patch mentioned on the 30-entry list.

“Stop in to pick a pumpkin and stay for a full day of fall fun for all ages!” Sara Bunge writes in the introduction to Yelp’s list of the top pumpkin patches in the nation. “Many of these featured spots also have petting zoos, haunted houses, hay rides, fall treats and so much more.”

To come up with a list of “pumpkin patches that are anything but basic,” Bunge said, Yelp looked at “a number of factors, including the total volume and ratings of reviews.”

Located at 5000 Highway 46 West in Templeton, Jack Creek Farms offers a seasonal u-pick pumpkin patch.

The Barlogio family grows more than 60 varieties of pumpkins and 40 varieties of baking winter squash, according to its website.

“We’ll have sugar pie pumpkins for pie making, jack-o-lantern type for carving, huge 100-pound-plus pumpkins, tiny pumpkins, heirloom Cinderella pumpkins, orange, yellow, green, cream and white pumpkins,” the family-owned farm said on its website. “We even have striped pumpkins!”

In September, Jack Creek Farms harvests apples, sweet onions, heirloom tomatoes, summer squash, sweet peppers and cucumbers.

In October, produce offerings expand to pumpkins, winter squash and pomegranates, the website said.
