Update: Vegetation fire burning near Paso Robles scorches 4 acres, structure

A vegetation fire west of Paso Robles burned a total of more than 5 acres on Wednesday afternoon.

Cal Fire first received reports of the brush fire, called the Willow Fire, near Willow Creek Road and Sleepy Farm Road, more than 10 miles west of Paso Robles, at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday, according to emergency services app Pulsepoint.

Air response vehicles, tankers and fire engines were dispatched to the scene.

Cal Fire firefighters were able to stop the Willow Fire’s forward progress at 2:34 p.m., Cal Fire said via Twitter.

By 2:48 p.m., the fire was 30% contained, and an “extended mop-up” was underway, according to Pulsepoint.

Firefighters had the fire 100% contained by around 8 p.m. after it burned 5.4 acres, Cal Fire Toni Davis said, and no structures were damaged by the flames.

The cause of the fire was later determined to be a vehicle that got stuck in the grass, Cal Fire said on Twitter.
