Wildfire 100% contained after burning 700 acres in eastern SLO County
A fire that burned more than 700 acres on the Carrizo Plain was 100% contained Wednesday morning, Cal Fire said in a social media post.
The Bitter Fire, which actually started as two separate vegetation fires, burned 703 acres of grasslands Tuesday night in eastern San Luis Obispo County.
The two fires were located on the 9700 block of Bitterwater Road in California Valley, according to PulsePoint.
Cal Fire’s air attack team confirmed the two fires, Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis said, and engines were en route to the scene shortly after 6 p.m.
Two air tankers also responded to the fire, according to Flightradar24.
Initially, the first fire was approximately 25 acres in size while the other was 10 to 15 acres, Davis said.
Cal Fire said the cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.
