Semi truck blocks Highway 101 off-ramp, slowing traffic
A semi-trailer truck with a mechanical problem slowed traffic in Paso Robles on Friday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol.
A mechanical problem stopped the semi-truck in the middle of the right turn lane onto eastbound Highway 46, CHP Officer Don Ellis said, blocking the off-ramp and halting northbound Highway 101 traffic.
The truck has a 45-foot trailer loaded with 70,000 pounds of materials, Ellis said.
The incident caused traffic congestion on northbound Highway 101 up to the Niblick Road off-ramp, according to the Caltrans traffic map.
A heavy-duty tow truck was on its way to the scene to remove the truck from the road, Ellis said.
Elsewhere in San Luis Obispo County, a pickup truck crashed into the guardrail of a Highway 1 off-ramp in Morro Bay at about 2:20 p.m., before the driver fled the scene, the CHP said.
