Sorry, rush hour drivers — Hwy. 101 traffic backed up between SLO, Santa Barbara County line
Bad news if you are in a hurry to get home this Friday evening — Highway 101 traffic is backed up in several places through the South County.
According to the Caltrans QuickMap, traffic is moving slowly at a handful of points between San Luis Obispo and the Santa Barbara County line.
The worst areas of congestion are heading southbound near Shell Beach and both north- and southbound in Nipomo. As of 5:30 p.m., stand-still traffic jams were reported in both areas.
The Shell Beach traffic appears to be the usual rush hour backup, but in Nipomo a reported three-car pileup is snarling traffic in the area of the Tefft Street ramps.
According to the California Highway Patrol traffic incident report page, three vehicles were in the center divider as of 5:15 p.m.
