A pickup truck burst into flame on Highway 101 around midday Wednesday, halting traffic in Arroyo Grande.

The truck, traveling southbound on Highway 101, caught fire at about 12:50 p.m. near the El Campo Road exit, according to Cal Fire.

The flames spread from the vehicle to nearby vegetation, the agency said, but firefighters contained the fire to a plot measuring 20 feet by 20 feet.

By 12:20, firefighters had extinguished the blaze, Cal Fire said.

The fire stopped traffic on southbound Highway 101 from the El Campo Road exit back to the Grand Avenue exit, according to a Caltrans traffic camera.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, according to Cal Fire.
