Drivers on the Cuesta Grade should expect significant delays along Highway 101 through Friday afternoon.

Southbound traffic will be impacted until about 3 p.m. along the roadway because Caltrans is trimming and removing vegetation on the roadside.

The clearing was scheduled for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. this week, plus Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and was intended to trim overgrown vegetation from the winter’s heavy rains.

Friday morning saw heavy delays in traffic going south on the Cuesta Grade on the final day of vegetation clearing.

Farther south, the closure of the northbound Highway 101 on-ramp at Madonna Road is also impacting traffic into San Luis Obispo.

Traffic into San Luis Obispo is being impacted by the Caltrans vegetation work on the southbound side of Highway 101 on the Cuesta Grade and the closure of the northbound Highway 101 on ramp to Madonna Road.
