Watch Cal Fire, Coast Guard rescue stranded drivers during SLO County storm

Cal Fire released footage Thursday a swift water rescue on a flooded San Luis Obispo County road.

Shot on Monday, the video reveals emergency crews faced during the brutal winter storm that slammed the region earlier this week.

The video shows Cal Fire, with assistance from the U.S. Coast Guard, rescuing drivers stranded in floodwaters at South Bay Boulevard and State Parks Road in Morro Bay.

In the video, the rushing water is nearly up to the roof of at least one vehicle.

At one point, a helicopter is called in to help evacuate a vehicle passenger.

As another storm approaches the Central Coast, Cal Fire advised drivers to avoid flooded roads and for those in flood-prone areas to be prepared to evacuate.
