CHP identifies Paso Robles man who was hit and killed crossing Highway 101

The California Highway Patrol Identified a pedestrian who was struck and killed by two vehicles while crossing Highway 101 on Friday night.

Paso Robles resident Nicholas Ernest Shaefer, 62, attempted to cross the southbound lanes of Highway 101 near Highway 46 East at 8:15 p.m. on Dec. 16, according to a news release from the CHP.

San Mateo resident Ashish Krishnani, 32, struck Shaefer with his 2020 Hundai Elantra, the news release said.

Shaefer was then struck by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee, driven by 48-year-old Hong Kong resident Kam Sau Chan, according to the news release.

Shaefer died of his injuries on the scene, the news release said.

Neither of the drivers were injured or under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to CHP.
