Update: Pedestrian dies after being hit by vehicle on Highway 101 in Paso Robles

A man was hit and killed Friday night while running across Highway 101 in Paso Robles, the CHP said.

At approximately 8:15 p.m., the CHP said that a 62-year old man from Paso Robles ran across southbound lanes of Highway 101 just north of Highway 46 East.

The man was struck by a 2020 Hyunda Elantra driven by Ashisi Krisani, 32, of San Mateo and then hit again by a 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by Sam Kau Chan, 48, of Hong Kong. Neither driver sustained injuries.

His identity is being withheld until next-of-kin is notified, according to a CHP news release.

The southbound lanes of Highway 101 were closed until approximately 10:45 p.m. Traffic was diverted to Highway 46 around the incident scene.

Neither of the drivers were under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and distracted driving was not a factor, according to the CHP.
