Pedestrian hit and killed by train in Grover Beach

A pedestrian died after being hit by a train in Grover Beach on Monday evening.

According to a Grover Beach Police Department tweet at 5:16 p.m., officers were on the scene of a “fatal Amtrak train vs. pedestrian at the Grover Beach train station.”

Chief John Peters said officers were dispatched to the station on Grand Avenue at about 5 p.m.

“Officers arrived and found an adult male deceased from injuries sustained when he was struck by an Amtrak train,” Peters said.

An investigation is underway, and the station will be closed for a few hours as a result, Peters said.
