Update: Power restored after car crashes into pole

Update, 5 p.m.:

A power outage was mostly restored Sunday evening following a car crash that downed power lines. Around 32 PG&E customers were out of power as of 4:57 p.m., compared to 380 customers affected earlier in the day.

Full power restoration was expected to be at 11:59 p.m. according to PG&E.

Update, 1:23 p.m.:

About 380 PG&E customers were without electricity in San Luis Obispo on Sunday afternoon following a car crash that downed power lines.

Crews for the energy company were on the scene as of 1:20 p.m.

The San Luis Obispo Fire Department asked drivers to use caution in the area in a Twitter post at 1 p.m.

Power lines were down in San Luis Obispo around midday Sunday following a car crash, according to San Luis Obispo County Fire Dispatch.

The crash, which involved “a single vehicle into a power pole,” occurred at the intersection of Los Osos Valley Road and Turri Road, Cal Fire said via Twitter at 12:17 p.m.

The crash resulted in a fire, the agency said.

“The vehicle is engulfed in flames,” one dispatcher said.

Los Osos Valley Road was closed in both directions as Cal Fire, the California Highway Patrol, San Luis Ambulance, San Luis Obispo City Fire Department responded to the scene, Cal Fire said.

Cal Fire advised drivers to use caution while in the area.
