Norman the cat got stuck in a Pismo Beach storm drain. Here’s what happened next
Firefighters reunited one lucky kitty with his owner in Pismo Beach on Wednesday after the feline got stuck in a storm drain.
Norman the cat went missing from his Pismo Beach home on Tuesday morning.
The following morning, Norman’s owner embarked on a quest to find the cat — and discovered that he was trapped in a storm drain on Spyglass Drive, Cal Fire spokesperson Toni Davis said.
“At one point, he went to coax him out with with kitty treats,” Davis said, but couldn’t convince Norman to come out.
Eventually, the owner, who Cal Fire did not identify, called authorities for help.
At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Cal Fire and Pismo Beach Public Works Department staff arrived on the scene to free Norman from the storm drain, Davis said.
Firefighters removed part of the grate covering the storm drain and plucked out the stranded cat.
Thirty minutes after the rescue began, Norman was back with his owner.
“Norman is happy and healthy,” Davis said.
