3-day Atascadero Fall Festival brings Ferris wheel, music back to Sunken Gardens

The normally quiet Sunken Gardens in Atascadero will be alive with activity over the weekend when the second annual Atascadero Fall Festival returns, transforming the area in front of City Hall into a carnival and music venue.

The three-day event starts Friday at 4 p.m. and goes until Sunday. Admission is free, but the extras — food, drinks and ride tickets — cost money.

The Fall Festival will feature more than 35 acts of live music on two stages, carnival rides and games and a street faire, plus craft beers, seltzers and ciders.

The headliner musician Pato Baton performs Saturday night at 8:30 p.m. on the Visit Atascadero main stage. Sunday will feature a teenage battle of the bands competition on the Holiday Inn Express stage.

Every day of the festival will feature live music, games and rides, but there will also be some special events at the festival.

The Suds at Sunken Gardens features 15 breweries, ciders, seltzers and more.

Saturday and Sunday will also feature a street faire where vendors will sell their goods.

Drivers in the area around the Sunken Gardens are advised to pay attention to road closures and more as they navigate the city ahead of the festival.

Discounted carnival passes are available for purchase online before the festival kicks off, as are tickets for the beer tasting. Tickets can be purchased on the Atascadero Fall Festival website at www.atascaderofallfest.com.

The festival runs Friday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Suds at Sunken Gardens event goes 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.
