Power outage

Update, 11:30 a.m.:

PG&E says that power has been restored to all customers and that no identifiable cause for the outage was found, which can sometimes happen with the sensitive shutoff settings, according to spokesman Mark Mesesan.

Update, 10:15 a.m.:

Power has been restored to all but 110 customers, in a neighborhood near Atascadero Lake.

PG&E is continuing to investigate what caused the fault on the circuit, Mesesan said.

As of 10:15 a.m. Monday, a PG&E power outage in Atascadero had been reduced to 110 customers near the lake.

Update, 10 a.m.:

Power has been restored for about 2,000 customers in Atascadero as of 10 a.m. Monday.

There are still about 1,500 customers without electricity in Atascadero, according to the PG&E online outage map.

A few customers in Cambria and Santa Margarita are still without power as of 10 a.m. Monday.

Mark Mesesan, PG&E spokesperson, said the outage occurred on a circuit that includes high fire-threat areas and has Enhanced Powerline Safety Settings, which automatically shut off power within a tenth of a second of a wildfire hazard, such as a tree branch hitting a power line.

A fault on the electrical system caused the outage, and PG&E was continuing to investigate while working to restore power to all customers, Mesesan said.

As of 10 a.m. Monday, a PG&E power outage in Atascadero had been reduced to 1,524 customers.
