Update: GoFundMe page set-up for family who lost home, pets in SLO County fire
Update, Thursday, 2 p.m.:
A GoFundMe page was created for the family whose home was destroyed in the Templeton house fire at www.gofundme.com/f/templeton-house-fire. As of Thursday afternoon, it had raised $170 of a $15,000 goal.
Update, 4:15 p.m.:
The fire that destroyed a Templeton home was likely electrical in nature, according to Templeton Fire and Emergency Services Chief Tom Peterson.
The blaze started around 5:30 a.m., and dispatch got the 911 call at 5:35 a.m., Peterson said.
Engines from the Templeton Fire Department as well as the Paso Robles Fire Department, Atascadero Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the house fire.
Two adults and one child were in the home at the time of the blaze.
All people in the home were able to evacuate, but three dogs and one cat died in the fire, he said.
Peterson said families should make sure that their smoke detectors are up-to-date and have charged batteries and that all families have an evacuation plan for their home in case of an emergency.
“Make sure your smoke detectors are working,” Peterson said. “In this case it probably saved the tenants’ lives.”
The Templeton Fire Department contacted the Red Cross to come and help the family after the fire.
According to Peterson, the investigation into the cause of the fire is still ongoing,
