SLO’s Madonna Inn is all decked out for Easter. Check out the elaborate decorations here
The Madonna Inn holds nothing back when it comes to holiday decorations, and this Easter has been no exception.
The iconic San Luis Obispo hotel has decked its halls with an explosion of springtime decor, including masses of bright flowers and large pastel paper eggs dangling from the ceiling.
There’s even a dapper Easter Bunny holding court at the front of the Alex Madonna’s Gold Rush Steakhouse dining room.
The hotel is also expected to put up its Easter cross on the hillside as usual on Thursday.
“Pretty much every season we try to do something, obviously not as extensive as the holidays at Christmas time, but we still like to do something for Easter,” Madonna Inn marketing manager Amanda Rich told The Tribune during a recent tour. “Easter is very much a part of the family, and the Madonnas are really into family, so they always wanted to have that experience for everybody.
Rich said so far it seems as though most visitors enjoy the seasonal decor — shouts of “Oh my goodness, it’s springtime!” are pretty common, she said — but one particular decoration tends to grab peoples’ attention.
“With our particular Easter Bunny, you know it’s got a friendly face, but some people find him a little creepy,” she said with a laugh. “So you have both extremes: You have people who really like it and the little kids that like to run the other way.”
Rich has fond memories of visiting the Madonna Inn during her childhood.
“I grew up in San Luis, so I remember coming here as a child and was always excited about what the season was and getting to see the new decorations,” she said. “So it’s fun to see it on the flip side and see all these kids and families enjoying it.”
Madonna Inn brings back Easter breakfast buffet
The hotel will host its annual Breakfast Buffet on Easter Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The meal includes traditional breakfast offerings as well as the hotel’s famous cakes and brunch drink specials.
“It’s been a couple years, so we are excited to see it return,” Rich said.
Reservations are still available. For more information, contact the hotel at 805-784-2469.
