Seeing smoke? Cal Fire conducting large control burn in northern SLO County
A control burn of more than 300 acres was conducted near Creston on Wednesday, according to a Cal Fire news release.
Cal Fire announced the all-day burn of 338 acres along the east side of Highway 229 between Highway 58 and the town of Creston.
The burn was issued to address hazardous vegetation.
The event was conducted in cooperation with SLO County Fire Safe Council, SLO County Air Pollution Control District, the National Weather Service, the California Air Resources Board and local landowners.
Cal Fire photos showed smoke wafting above hills in the area and firefighters at work.
