Wells Fargo has temporarily closed its Nipomo branch due to a staffing problem, a spokesman confirmed to The Tribune this week.

The branch closed suddenly after Thanksgiving, prompting concern from customers who use the Tefft Street location and need access to in-person bank services like safety deposit boxes.

Wells Fargo spokesman Juan Lopez said the branch had to temporarily close “because of staffing constraints.”

“We are sorry to inconvenience any customers and will resume operations as soon as possible,” Lopez wrote in an email.

Lopez said the branch will likely reopen sometime near the end of January, though that is still up in the air.

As of Tuesday, the branch ATM still appeared to be in operation, though Lopez said customers could check Wells Fargo’s online branch locator for other ATM and bank locations.

A sign posted on the window of the bank lobby said customers who need access to safety deposit boxes should email safedepositservices@wellsfargo.com.
