A bank founded on the Central Coast is growing its local presence with a brand-new branch in San Luis Obispo County.

CoastHills Credit Union, which was founded in 1958 to serve the needs of Vandenberg military base personnel, is adding a new branch in Arroyo Grande.

The 1360 East Grand Ave. location will be the second CoastHills in Arroyo Grande; the other branch is located at 1580 W. Branch St.

According to a news release, the new branch is expected to open in early 2022.

“For more than 60 years CoastHills has been committed to strengthening the financial well-being of the communities we serve through exceptional products and services,” CoastHills President and CEO Paul Cook said in the release. “While other banks continue to leave the area, CoastHills is striving to have branches in convenient locations throughout the Central Coast to provide a banking experience that makes it easy for anyone in the community to do business with us.”

The new location will be the bank’s 12th in Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties. The bank currently serves more than 71,000 customers across the Central Coast and is the second-largest locally owned financial institution on the Central Coast, according to the release.

The new spot will be staffed with member service officers, loan officers and commercial banking experts, according to the release, as well as feature a drive-up member service lane and a walk-up ATM.

According to the release, the Branch Street branch will temporarily close for remodeling after the new location opens.
