These are the top 4 beaches in SLO County — but which is the ultimate best? Vote now

Anyone who had money riding on Pismo Beach making it to the top two of our Best SLO County Beaches Bracket is going to be sorely disappointed this week.

In an extremely close round that had most of the Elite Eight beaches in SLO County running neck-and-neck, four local spots emerged as the winners and secured their places in the penultimate round of our bracket.

For a refresher, The Tribune is looking to crown the ultimate best local beach, and it’s up to our readers to decide.

The game is simple: Vote each week in our bracket, which pits SLO County’s top beaches in head-to-head matchups. Over the weeks, your votes will narrow down the contenders until we determine one true winner.

Here’s what happened in Round 2:

Avila Beach faced off against Shell Beach, easily demolishing the tidepooling fave with 70% of the vote. Meanwhile, in a surprise turn of events, Pismo Beach faced off and lost to dark horse Spooner’s Cove, which just barely made it into the Final Four with 52% of the vote.

Sorry, Pismo — maybe better luck next time?

Further to the north, Morro Strand narrowly made it the next round over the Montana de Oro Sandspit with only 51% of the vote, while Moonstone Beach defeated Cayucos Beach with 56%.

The beaches moving on to the Final Four, and their matchups, are:

  • Avila Beach vs. Spooner’s Cove
  • Morro Strand vs. Moonstone Beach

So who do you think should make it to the Top Two and duke it out for the title of SLO County’s Best Beach?

Make sure to vote before the bracket closes at 11:59 p.m. on Nov. 16. This is not a scientific poll, so vote as many times as you like, and make sure to come back next week for Round 4: The Championship Round.
