Thousands without power in northern San Luis Obispo County

Power has been restored to all PG&E customers who were without electricity Tuesday morning, according to PG&E’s outage map.

Thousands of people on San Luis Obispo County North Coast were without power Tuesday morning, thanks to both a traditional power outage and a PG&E Public Safety Power Shutoff impacting the area.

As of 10:25 a.m., more than 2,590 customers around Cambria and Harmony were without electricity because of an outage that PG&E says was caused by the weather.

According to PG&E, the outage began shortly after 7 a.m. The company had assigned a crew to investigate the outage, but there was no estimated time of restoration.

Meanwhile, about 137 customers further inland in rural northern San Luis Obispo County were still without power on Tuesday morning thanks to one of PG&E’s Public Safety Power Shutoffs.

The utility company will shut off power to at-risk areas when the risk of wildfire is high. PG&E announced the latest shutoff was due to high winds in the area, as well as dry conditions.

The company says power is expected to be restored to those customers by 1 p.m.
