Brush fire shuts down Highway 154 outside of Santa Barbara

The highway has reopened, according to Caltrans.

Highway 154 north of Santa Barbara is closed due to a brush fire.

Caltrans shut the road down around 2 p.m. Tuesday between Stagecoach Road and Paradise Road. There is no estimate for when the road will reopen.

Highway 101 remains open to travelers heading south to Santa Barbara, according to Caltrans District 5 spokesman Jim Shivers.

As of 2 p.m., a pair of small fires in the area were stopped at less than half an acre, according to Santa Barbara County Fire Department spokesman Mike Eliason. The cause of the fires is under investigation.
