SLO is fixing 19 miles of city streets for $1.5 million. Here’s where to expect delays
A $1.5 million roadway resurfacing project in the city of San Luis Obispo is expected to improve 19 roads spanning 82 miles.
According to a city news release, the project will repair several prominent city streets, including Buchon, Calle Joaquin, Granada, High, Islay, Leff, Oceanaire, Margarita, Peach, Pismo, Sandercock and South.
Streets will remain open during the roadwork, which includes the application of a slurry sealant and new striping, but the project will cause some lane closures and intermittent traffic delays.
The project is scheduled to begin Monday and last through mid-October, the city said.
According to the city, community benefits include repairing cracks, improving safety for cyclists and pedestrians and adding speed humps along portions of High and Pismo streets to help reduce vehicle speeds for general safety.
The city said the Bob Jones City to the Sea Bike Trail will also undergo sealing and striping between Prado and Los Osos Valley roads, as well as the Emerson Park parking lot.
