Man killed in Arroyo Grande motorcycle crash identified by CHP

Officials have released the name of a 31-year-old Santa Maria man who was killed in a motorcycle crash in rural Arroyo Grande on Friday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol said in a news release Tuesday that James Lamon was driving a 2007 Yamaha motorcycle westbound on Los Berros Road east of Century Lane around 3:40 p.m. Friday.

The agency said it does not know how fast Lamon was going when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and crossed solid double lines directly into the path of a 2002 Ford F-150 heading in the opposite direction.

The truck struck the motorcyclist, and Lamon suffered fatal injuries.

A 35-year-old Nipomo woman was driving the truck, and did not suffer any injuries, according to the release.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing, but the CHP says drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
