Santa Maria man killed in rural Arroyo Grande motorcycle crash

A Santa Maria man was killed in a fatal motorcycle crash in rural Arroyo Grande on Friday afternoon.

According to a California Highway Patrol news release, a 31-year-old man was driving a motorcycle westbound on Los Berros Road east of Century Lane around 3:40 p.m.

CHP says the man was going an undetermined speed when he failed to negotiate a right-hand curve in the roadway and crossed solid double lines directly into the path of a Ford F-150 heading in the opposite direction.

The truck struck the motorcyclist, and the man suffered fatal injuries, CHP said. The name of the man is not being released by CHP pending notification of next of kin.

A 35-year-old Nipomo woman was driving the truck, and did not have any injuries following the collision, according to the release.

An investigation into the collision is ongoing. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor, according to the release.

Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact the CHP at 805-594-8700.
