Highway 101 car chase reaches 100 mph, ends in arrest of driver

The CHP was in pursuit Tuesday afternoon of a person who was driving 100 mph on Highway 101 near California Boulevard.

According to scanner traffic, the CHP set up a spike at the Marsh Street exit but the car exited at Madonna Road.

The driver then exited their vehicle in the Ralph’s parking lot and ran into the grocery store with officers chasing on foot, scanner traffic said.

The driver was then seen running out of the back door of Ralph’s, according to scanner traffic.

A passenger was in the vehicle and ran south on Madonna Road, according to scanner traffic. The person was described as wearing a dark hat and black shirt.

According to scanner traffic, the driver was arrested around 4:15 p.m.

It was unclear how the pursuit began.
