A man killed in a Highway 1 motorcycle collision has been identified by the CHP.

Klayton Kidd, 76, of Morro Bay, died May 15 in a crash between a yellow motorcycle and a Jeep Cherokee, the agency said Wednesday.

On the day of the incident, a spokeswoman at the agency’s dispatch center in San Luis Obispo would only confirm that one person had died following a vehicle crash on Highway 1.

According to the agency’s incident web page, a report came in at 3:23 p.m. May 15 of a collision between the motorcycle and a Jeep Cherokee.

Deputies with the San Luis Obispo County Sheriff’s Office were also dispatched to the scene near Highway 1 and Ardath Drive, where traffic immediately backed up in both lanes and a SIG Alert was issued.

CHP officials didn’t have any additional details about the incident Wednesday.
