Update: Missing elderly couple from Grover Beach found

A missing elderly couple from Grover Beach has been found, according to the Grover Beach Police Department.

Clara Ruth Vega and Manuel Vega of Grover Beach were reported missing by their family Sunday, according to a news release.

Clara was described as a 72-year-old white woman with gray hair and hazel eyes. She is 5 feet, 4 inches tall, according to the release.

Manuel, who also goes by Manny, is a 78-year-old white man with gray hair and brown eyes. He is also 5-foot-4.

The release said Clara and Manuel suffer from “some medical conditions that concern family members that they may be in distress.”

Their family said the couple went out for a drive Saturday and had not returned that day. They were driving a 2004 Chevrolet Corvette, with a California license plate 6KYV938, according to the release.

The family last heard from the couple via phone about 2 a.m. Sunday.

The couple told their family they were lost near the Hanford area, then contact was lost, according to the release.

Officers sent out a statewide “be on the lookout” for the couple, according to the release.

They also conducted a cellphone search and determined the phone was last in the area of Highway 99 in McFarland at 7:30 a.m. Sunday. From there, officers lost the cellphone signal, according to the release.

The California Highway Patrol, McFarland police and Kern County agencies were notified and checked the surrounding areas. According to police, they did not find the vehicle.

The couple were found in San Luis Obispo County about 6:30 p.m. Sunday, according to police.

Additional details surrounding the case were not released.
