Thank you to our readers: We have reached our fundraising goal!
To our readers:
Thanks to all of your generous support, we have reached our COVID-19 fundraising goal.
We topped $43,000 with this campaign, and I can’t express to you enough how much we appreciate all of the kind words we have received throughout this effort at givebutter.com/sanluisobispo, which was a partnership with the national nonprofit Location Media Association.
Nearly 500 people donated over the last month. Wow.
You gave and chimed in from near and far, with messages of inspiration that were truly uplifting.
“Democracy can die in the darkness. Keep shining the light. Thank you for your diligent reporting,” wrote Pete and Patty Pepper.
“Every time we read the paper we learn SO much! It keeps us ‘in the know’ & we appreciate EVERYONE of you who works to make it happen, from journalists, printers, editors, staff, down to our wonderful delivery people. Thank you! We’d give more but we have a lot of mouths to feed due to the pandemic,” wrote the Morro Bay Mermaid Family.
“Thank you for your dedication to local news! We’ve moved out of state, but continue our online subscription to keep up with SLO news. Keep it up!” Carolyn Mason wrote.
And from Marcy and Bob: “A day without a newspaper is a bad day.”
We couldn’t agree more. How many likes can we add to that comment?
Looking forward, we’ve got lots of work to do and many stories to tell as we navigate the gradual reopening of San Luis Obispo County, which began in earnest this week with closures being lifted on dine-in service at restaurants and in-store shopping at retail outlets.
This was a big step, but it’s just one of many.
Even though we’ve completed this campaign, we still rely on you now more than ever. In order to provide the critical coverage that keeps our community informed, we need to continue growing our subscriber base.
Our readers are our lifeblood.
If you value our work and have not yet subscribed, please consider our digital subscription package. It’s just $0.99 a month for the first 2 months.
Finally, I have one last request: Be a champion for local news.
Speak out in support of independent journalism. Urge your friends to read and subscribe. Join the conversation and be a force for positivity and rebirth.
As always, we are grateful for the opportunity to tell your stories. Thank you.
