Firefighters battle brush fire in rural Arroyo Grande

Update: 6:50 p.m.

According to Cal Fire PIO Adan Orozco, the brush fire grew to 20 acres before it was finally extinguished and contained at about 6:30 p.m.

No structures were involved, nor was anyone injured and up to 100 livestock that were in the area were unharmed.

Cal Fire investigators are still on scene trying to determine the source of the fire.

Hand crews are still establishing a fire line around the burn area and the firefighters will be there a couple more hours.

The brush fire has grown to approximately 15 acres with a continued slow rate of spread. The forward progress has stopped and extra air attack tankers that were standing by at Paso Robles Airport have been released, according to a Cal Fire tweet.

Firefighters and air attack planes were battling a vegetation fire Wednesday afternoon in rural Arroyo Grande, according to Cal Fire.

Around 4 p.m., Cal Fire was notified of a four-acre brush fire at 7350 Huasna Townsite Road, the agency said via Twitter.

According to incident command, the blaze has the potential to grow to 30 acres. No structures were threatened at this time, according to the Cal Fire tweet.

The conditions are very windy at this time. As of 5 p.m., incident command said the fire is holding at four acres, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson.
