Update: Firefighters rescue man who fell up to 20 feet from Avila Beach cliff

Update, 10:13 a.m.:

A male subject fell 15 to 20 feet into the water at Pirate’s Cove in Avila Beach and sustained head injuries, according to Cal Fire. The man was breathing when Cal Fire arrived. Cal Fire did not know which hospital the fall victim was transported to.

Update, 6:40 p.m. Saturday:

Firefighters with Cal Fire are still on scene working to pull the male subject up from the beach, according to a Cal Fire spokesperson. The extent of his injuries is unknown at this time. The fall victim will be transported by ambulance to a local hospital.
