5 kids hurt when truck hits golf cart at Heritage Ranch

The driver of a silver Yamaha golf cart that was involved in a vehicle collision Saturday evening was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, among other charges, according to a CHP news release.
The golf cart was driven by Breanna Roinstad of Santa Maria and carried an adult female passenger in the front seat and five children, ages 3 to 11, who were not restrained by seat belts, according to CHP.
The golf cart was traveling eastbound on Heritage Boat Launch Road approaching Heritage Road as a 2018 Chevy Silverado, driven by Jacob Watz, was traveling northbound on Heritage Road.
Watz made an unsafe left turn and collided with the left side of the golf cart, according to the report.
The children were ejected into the road.
First responders treated the children on the scene and San Luis Obispo County Sheriff officials said the injuries ranged from minor to major. Two of the five children were airlifted to a children’s hospital in Fresno.
Update 6:45 p.m.
Four children sustained injuries in the truck versus golf cart accident. Two children were transported by air ambulance to a children’s hospital in Fresno. The two other children were taken by ambulance to a local hospital, according to Cal Fire spokesperson. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

Rescue units are responding to a truck that collided with a golf cart holding four juveniles under 10 years of age at the Heritage Ranch boat ramp. Injuries to the juveniles are unknown at this time, according to scanner traffic.
