Police investigating suspicious deaths of man and woman in Central Coast home

The suspicious deaths of two adults were under investigation Thursday afternoon in a northwest Santa Maria neighborhood, according to the Santa Maria Police Department.

Personnel from the Santa Maria Police and Fire departments, along with an AMR ambulance crew, were dispatched to an incident at 2:45 p.m. on the 800 block of West Creston Street, Sgt. Danny Rios said.

There were reports that the incident was a murder-suicide, but police would only confirm that a man and a woman had died, and that the deaths had been deemed suspicious.

Lt. Mark Streker later said police were not seeking any suspects and that there was no threat to the community.

The cause of death remained under investigation on Thursday afternoon.

A family member reported the incident to authorities, Streker added.

Detectives also were dispatched to the scene to investigate the circumstances that led to the deaths.

An hour after the shooting, one woman was seen sobbing as she walked away from the area cordoned by yellow police tape.

Additional information was not immediately available.
