50,000 doughnuts and a line out the door — Santa Maria’s new Krispy Kreme draws crowds
Krispy Kreme finally opened in Santa Maria on Tuesday, and it seems the Central Coast could not get enough of the chain’s hot and fresh doughnuts.
According to spokesman Brian Spongberg, the line for the new store at 2224 South Bradley Road “has not slowed down since 5:30 a.m.,” when the shop opened for business.
Spongberg said as of 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, the company was on track to sell 50,000 doughnuts in its first day.
The new shop is approximately 2,760 square feet, according to a previous Tribune report, and offers “more than a dozen of Krispy Kreme’s one-of-a-kind doughnuts” including its classic glazed doughnut. It also features a drive-through.
The new shop is open 5:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. Its drive-through will be open an hour later, from 5:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. each day.
Krispy Kreme’s Santa Maria location is one of the newest additions to The Crossroads shopping center, located at the intersection of Betteravia and Bradley roads. The Crossroads opened in 1998 and houses national retailers including Home Depot, Walmart, TJ Maxx and Best Buy.
