Update: Pedestrian hit by vehicle in SLO has died

A 60-year-old pedestrian died Wednesday morning after she was hit by a vehicle in SLO, according to a news release from the San Luis Obispo Police Department.

The incident happened at about 6:40 a.m., in the area of Calle Joaquin and Los Osos Valley Road. When police and firefighters arrived, they found the woman “unconscious and unresponsive,” and lying in the road near the intersection, according to the release.

The woman was taken to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead, police said. She has not yet been identified pending a notification to her next of kin.

Police said they evaluated the driver of the vehicle, a 45-year-old woman, and found that she was not under the influence of alcohol or drugs at the time of the crash.

Authorities spent several hours investigating at the scene of the crash Wednesday morning, causing traffic backups in the area.

Police ask anyone who witnessed the collision or who has information to call Ofcr. Luca Benedetti at 805-594-8060 and reference case No. 191204010.

Additional information was not immediately available.
