Watch as firefighters drive through massive flames during the Cave Fire

A new video released by Santa Barbara County Fire shows the dangerous path firefighters had to drive to get into the heart of the Cave Fire this week.

The video, shared by Santa Barbara County Fire Capt. Daniel Bertucelli on Wednesday, shows firefighters driving into the Cave Fire as massive flames lick the sides of the roads.

“A view from the eyes of your Santa Barbara County firefighters, while battling the Cave Fire,” Bertucelli tweeted.

The Cave Fire erupted Monday afternoon, quickly blazing a destructive path across the Santa Ynez mountains above Santa Barbara. At its height, the flames came close to Santa Barbara city limits and prompted road closures and evacuations.

On Tuesday night, officials released mudslide evacuation warnings as a storm approached the region. The warnings, as well as remaining evacuation orders, were all lifted on Wednesday.

As of Wednesday, the fire had burned about 4,367 acres and was 20% contained.
