SLO County reports more than 130 new cases of COVID-19 — but no deaths
San Luis Obispo County added 132 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, the Public Health Department reported, but no new deaths.
In a promising sign, new cases have remained stable in recent days, following families and friends gathering for the Thanksgiving holiday.
The 14-day average number of new daily cases stands at 38. That average has been in the 30s for almost a month.
The total number of active cases has risen a bit to 317, up from 289 on Friday.
A total of 11 SLO County residents are now being treated for COVID-19 in local hospitals, including three in intensive care.
Countywide, 365 people have died from the virus since March 2020.
In total, 30,772 San Luis Obispo County residents have tested positive for coronavirus since March 2020.
Here’s how local coronavirus case numbers from the past four break down day-by-day:
The county Public Health Department is not providing information about how many newly reported individual cases, hospitalizations and deaths involve vaccinated and unvaccinated people due to resource limitations and privacy concerns.
Instead, Public Health is releasing weekly data showing the percentages of unvaccinated people who’ve contracted COVID-19, received hospital treatment for the virus or died from it since June 15.
The latest county numbers as of Dec. 3 show that unvaccinated people account for 77% of COVID-19 cases, 82% of hospitalizations and 73% of deaths since June 15.
