Splash Cafe in Pismo Beach closes due to coronavirus exposure
The Pismo Beach Splash Cafe is temporarily closed after an employee tested positive for the coronavirus.
The popular clam chowder location announced their temporary closure via Facebook on Friday.
“We are taking this news very seriously,” the Facebook announcement read. “With the upmost precaution for the safety and well-being of out staff and customers, Splash Cafe has decided to temporarily close our Pismo Beach location for sanitation and cleaning recommended by the SLO County Health Department.”
Only one employee reportedly tested positive, according to the post. The post did not include how the worker acquired the virus.
According to a San Luis Obispo Splash Cafe employee, the Pismo Beach closure is slated to last about a week while the Sanitation Department deep-cleans the facility.
The employee said both the Pismo Beach and San Luis Obispo locations are cleaned regularly to maintain public safety.
The San Luis Obispo location on Monterey Street will remain open for outdoor seating and take-out orders. Indoor dining is no longer an option due to a recent statewide mandate.
This is the first Pismo Beach restaurant to close due to employee-related COVID-19 exposure.
In June, Cambria’s Cookie Crock Super Market closed its deli department for a little over a week because employees there were exposed to the coronavirus.
