SLO County adds 1 coronavirus case from Paso Robles
San Luis Obispo County added one confirmed coronavirus case on Friday — 269 residents have now tested positive for COVID-19 since March, according to ReadySLO.org.
The newly confirmed case is in Paso Robles, which is home to about 42% of all local residents who’ve tested positive for COVID-19.
More than 10,400 coronavirus local tests have now been conducted at the county Public Health Department lab or at private labs.
SLO County’s COVID-19 cases by the numbers
Of the 269 local residents who’ve tested positive for COVID-19, 245 have completely recovered from the illness.
Nineteen people are still recovering at home. Four patients are receiving hospital treatment, all of whom are in intensive care units.
One local resident has died from COVID-19.
Paso Robles continues to have the most COVID-19 cases in the county with 113. Atascadero has 38 cases, Arroyo Grande has 22, Nipomo has 21, San Luis Obispo has 18, and California Men’s Colony has 11.
Pismo Beach and San Miguel both have nine cases, Templeton has eight cases and Morro Bay has six. Other areas — defined as cities or communities with fewer than five cases — have 14 cases altogether.
Sixty-nine cases involve people ages 50 to 64, and 48 cases are ages 65 and older.
There are 127 residents aged 18 to 49 who’ve tested positive for COVID-19. The remaining 25 cases involved people ages 17 and younger.
The county has determined 49 patients acquired the virus through travel, while 126 cases were transmitted through person-to-person contact and 89 have been contracted through community spread.
The county has not determined the route of transmission for five cases.
County Public Health and private labs conducted 152 COVID-19 tests in San Luis Obispo County between Thursday and Friday.
The county’s Public Health lab has conducted 3,004 tests with 88 positive results. Private labs have conducted at least 7,480 tests with 181 positive results.
Private labs have reported negative results to the county since April 13.
California and Santa Barbara County COVID-19 testing
As of Thursday, 1,835,478 COVID-19 tests have been conducted in California, according to the state Department of Public Health.
According to the state Department of Public Health, 103,886 residents have tested positive for COVID-19, and 4,068 people have died.
In Santa Barbara County, 1,636 residents have tested positive for coronavirus, as of Thursday, with 12 new cases. Of the new cases, nine were in Santa Maria, bringing the city’s total to 306.
Of the Santa Barbara County cases, 1,481 residents have recovered and 12 have died.
When and where to get a COVID-19 test in SLO County
Two free coronavirus testing clinics are open in Grover Beach and Paso Robles with a capacity to test up to a combined 260 tests a day.
Testing is available by appointment only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Paso Robles Veterans Hall, 240 Scott St. in Paso Robles, and Ramona Garden Community Center, 993 Ramona Ave. in Grover Beach.

Testing is also available through private healthcare providers, urgent care centers and the County Public Health Lab.
