Despite parking lot and business closures, many local restaurants are offering Easter specials.

SLO County officials say social distancing is working

San Luis Obispo County models originally showed that the county would reach more than 100 cases sooner than Wednesday. Even with increased testing, the county’s number of new cases each day has slowed.

County Public Health Officer Dr. Penny Borenstein said this in part may be because of a lack of testing, but it is also because of the county’s social distancing measures.

“As a community at large and as a county, we have been doing a fabulous job and we believe we’re seeing that in the results of seeing small numbers of new cases,” she said.

SLO County now has 104 confirmed cases

San Luis Obispo County now has 104 confirmed coronavirus cases with two new patients announced Thursday. The county passed 100 cases Wednesday.

Nearly three quarters of the county’s COVID-19 patients — 75 people — have completely recovered from the virus.

Twenty-five patients are recovering at home, and three patients have been hospitalized, two of whom are in the intensive care unit.

One county patient has died from COVID-19.

SLO County closing more parks

SLO County is closing access to Pirate’s Cove and has shut down the Los Osos Skate Park due to problems with social distancing.

It’s also limiting the number of visitors at Santa Margarita and Lopez lakes.

PG&E closes two SLO County trails to avoid the spread of coronavirus

Two San Luis Obispo County trails owned by PG&E are officially closed at least until May as the utility company closes recreation sites statewide to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The company closed the Point Buchon and Pecho Coast trails to public access on March 26.

Local restaurants offer holiday specials

San Luis Obispo County residents who are looking to celebrate Easter while still adhering to the shelter-at-home restrictions brought on by the coronavirus pandemic can turn to local restaurants.

Numerous restaurants across the Central Coast are offering special Easter Sunday deals for meal pickups.
